Every year the Merrimack Trail Riders which I am a proud member of hosts the New Hampshire Charity Classic trail ride. While this is a great event to ride in the most important thing is it is a fund raiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease which affects the lungs and digestive track making it difficult to breathe and increasing susceptibility to infection. MVTR has hosted this event for 30 years and over that time has raised over $1.7M for CF. Last year alone the event raised $138,000. More importantly during those 30 years the average life span of someone with CF has risen from 15 to 37.
This is an important issue to me and my family. I had a cousin who died from CF. He was one of the “lucky” one who lived long enough to become a young adult and get married. Many others with CF were not that lucky. While he tried to live a normal life it was difficult as he normally had to have oxygen with him at all times.
With more research we can extend both the length and quality of life for those suffering with CF and hopefully find a cure. Your donation can help make this happen. Making a donation is easy and can be done online at my CFF fundraising page.
